Ron Santiago de Cuba is an iconic brand of the island.
Since 1862, eastern Cuba has been the cradle of Cuban Ligero Rum, and Santiago de Cuba is the city that gave rise to this tradition. Here, the scorching Caribbean sun, the humidity of the land, and the sea create optimal conditions for cultivating sugar cane.
The sugar cane from the East is mineral, sweet, and aromatic. Once ripened, it is pressed to create molasses, which combines high sugar levels, low acidity, and low viscosity. This fresh nectar undergoes fermentation and distillation. Finally, active charcoal filtration, which gives it the classic rounded and slightly vanilla touch.
Aging takes place exclusively in white oak barrels in the Don Pancho cellar, known as the 'cathedral of Cuban rum'. This cellar is so close to the train tracks that, according to legend, the barrels vibrate as it passes, influencing the maturation process.
Ron Santiago de Cuba boasts the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) CUBA, active since 2010. This guarantees traditional production standards with strict and highly specific criteria.
The blending process is completed by the Cuban Maestros Roneros, who for generations have nurtured and preserved the authentic taste of Cuban rum.
